There are
three 1st Grade classes at St. Margaret Mary.
Each
class may contain up to 28 students.

The
reading curriculum expands
basic reading into higher levels with an introduction to the SRA Reading
Program starting at mid-year.

The
religion curriculum emphasizes prayers.
-
The math curriculum continues basic addition and subtraction and
introduces measurement, money, and time.

Students have 2
outside recesses and eat lunch at the main cafeteria with Pre-K and
Kindergarten students.

Students attend
school masses and - about once a month - mass in the St. Margaret Mary chapel.

Students participate in all
exploratory classes: computer, library,
PE, prayer music, and Spanish. These are graded Satisfactory
(S) / Needs improvement (N) all year.

Grades
for math, reading, and religion for the first 9 wks (i.e., 1st quarter) are
G, S, N: G=A
or B; S = C; N=D or U.

Grades
for math, reading, and religion for the 2nd, 3rd, and 4th quarters are A,
B, C, D and U.

Students are also graded in
conduct on a scale of E (Excellent), S (Satisfactory), N (Needs
improvement), U (Unsatisfactory).

Students take the Stanford Achievement Tests
(SAT) in April.
