The 6th-8th Grades comprise the SMM middle school.  Classes are taught by multiple teachers, based on subject.  Each class may contain up to 28 students.  The class curricula are presented below, by grade and subject.  Grades or subjects that are not yet listed are still being prepared for this website.

SMM middle school teachers now have their own websites, with class syllabus, homework, test schedules, etc.

7th Grade History
Teacher: Norma Ladner
Textbook: The American Journey (Glenco)

In seventh grade, students study the geography of our nation and the U.S. Constitution.  Our history will complement what is taught in fifth grade.  We touch on the American Revolution, go in depth on the U.S. Constitution, and then study our first Presidents and their administrations.  We then cover the time from the Civil War to the 1960’s.  Included in our studies are politics, economics, map and graph skills, as well as history.  Patriotism and pride in the United States are promoted.  To encourage the students to take an interest in national and world events, current events are discussed daily.  Students take turns reading the “Story of the Day” from the CNN website at the beginning of each class.

8th Grade History
Teacher: Norma Ladner
