There are three 2nd Grade classes at St. Margaret MaryEach class may contain up to 28 students. 

  • The reading curriculum expands basic reading into higher levels.

  • The religion curriculum emphasizes sacraments, in preparation for receiving the sacraments of Eucharist and Reconciliation, which is usually handled through the school. 

  • The math curriculum expands to 3-digit addition and subtraction, continues with concepts of  measurement, money, and  time, and introduces fractions and multiplication.

  • Students eat lunch at the main cafeteria with the 3rd grade, and have one outside recess after lunch.

  • Students attend school masses and - about once a month - mass in the St. Margaret Mary chapel. 

  • Students participate in all exploratory classes: computer, library, PE, prayer music, and Spanish.   These are graded Satisfactory (S) / Needs improvement (N) all year.

  • Students receive letter grades in math, reading, and religion.   Science and social studies  are graded S/N. 

  • Conduct is graded on a scale of E (Excellent), S (Satisfactory), N (Needs improvement), U (Unsatisfactory).

  • Students take the Stanford Achievement Tests (SAT) in April.
