Mrs. Burford graduated from the University of New Orleans with a B.A. in Elementary Education. She has earned and maintains religious education certification also.
After staying home to raise her three sons, she began her teaching career in 1989 as a fifth grade teacher at SMM. Currently, she teaches 6th grade Math and Science.
She also serves as a Teacher Representative on the SMM Parent-Teacher Organization Board. Mrs. Burford was honored to be chosen as SMM Teacher of the Year
in 2005. She says, “I love teaching. Each year brings different challenges because of the varied personalities and characteristics of each class. The kids are great!
They make my job fun!”
