Mrs. Johnson and her husband are natives of Michigan.  Mrs. Johnson attended Michigan Technological University and finished her education at the University of New Orleans, where she was certified in Elementary Education with a concentration in science.  Before she moved to Louisiana and became a certified teacher, Mrs. Johnson held several interesting jobs: she was secretary to the Assistant Dean of Education at Eastern Michigan University, as well as secretary to the Director of the Budget at Michigan Technological University.

After graduating from UNO, Mrs. Johnson was hired to teach science to 6th, 7th, and 8th grade students at St. Margaret Mary.  After four years of teaching in this area, she left SMM to raise her young daughters.  In 1986, she returned to teach 2nd grade.  Although her intention was to stay in the lower grades only long enough for her junior-high daughter to graduate, she found that the energetic and loving 2nd grade students held her heart.  Mrs. Johnson says that "I love teaching because these little ones are not only loving and accepting, but humorous, interesting and challenging.  Every day is a new experience!"
